When you’ve been involved in an accident, you’re suddenly inheriting a lengthy to-do list alongside any trauma you might have endured. It can be an overwhelming process. For those unfamiliar with everything involved in a personal injury report and the subsequent actions that spur from it, it can be hard to know what’s enough for you to take on yourself and when you need to bring in an attorney. Here are a few factors that might convince you to pick up the phone and hire a lawyer.
Every personal injury case is different and, as such, will be treated drastically differently. If you’re involved in a minor injury that’s not impeding in your everyday life, you might not need to bring in a lawyer. However, if you’re involved in a dramatic collision you’ll likely want to bring in a lawyer earlier than later. If your injuries are drastic and might have lifelong repercussions, they need the appropriate level of seriousness with how they’re addressed. Just like how you’d consult a doctor with anything alarming, treat hiring a lawyer the same way.
In an ideal world, the insurance companies of both you and the other party will seamlessly handle compensating costs associated with the accident. But, as anyone who’s gone through the process themselves, this doesn’t always happen. Sometimes you’ll find that you’re getting fair less than what you feel like you’re deserved. That’s when you’ll want to bring in a lawyer who can help get you what you’re due and settle the matter in court.
Aside from dealing with the insurance agencies, the claim itself may be fairly complex. Depending on your case, some of the details and state laws can make it hard for someone without a law degree to make heads or tails of what’s needed of you. Having someone who can guide you through the process can save you from making a costly error and ensures that you’ll be taken care of.
Between medical bills, wages lost from being out of work, and any other factors that may have been effected from the incident, you can find yourself in a money hole really quick. Lawyers are not often thought about as the “cheap” option, but having a legal representative that can stand up for you in court and get you compensated may put you further ahead than if you tried to do it all yourself.
Don’t let yourself go into debt for an injury that you endured at the fault of someone else – bring in someone who knows how to protect your interests. Elsner Law Firm can help. If you’re feeling out of your element or overwhelmed with your claim, give us a call and we’ll see if your injury case can benefit from help from one of our attorneys.

My friend was recently injured in an auto accident, and I know she’s been having a hard time figuring out all the paperwork associated with her claim. I like how you pointed out that hiring a lawyer can be helpful in this type of situation since it would take a lot of the burden off of her to handle the paperwork with her claim. I’ll be sure to pass this info on so that she has a better chance of getting her claim approved.
I was not aware that having severe injuries in your workplace will be a clear sign that you need to call a personal injury lawyer. My husband’s brother was injured at work, and we are looking for advice to help him. I will let him know about the benefits of hiring a personal injury lawyer to make sure that his brother gets the help that he needs.
I like how you explained that you asked the lawyer how many times they go to trial. Last week, a car struck my brother in the middle of the night, injuring him.
