Workplace Deaths in Washington: Facts and Safety Insights
In 2015, Washington workplace deaths were highest among those over 50 years old. There were a total of 58 deaths with half involving people age 50 or older. Unfortunately, the state is unable to explain why this is happening. According to the Department of Labor and Industries the deaths are as a result of incidents that could happen to people of all ages (falls, car crashes, etc) and aren’t related to age related things such as heart attacks. The statistics also show that men were 91% of the deaths with Hispanics accounting for 21%. The greatest cause of death was due to falls followed by motor vehicle accidents.
